Biography
Anastasia Fotaki MD, PhD
Dr Fotaki is a Fetal and Paediatric Cardiologist. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Crete and trained in Crete, London and Berlin. She has year-long experience in clinical cardiovascular imaging in Congenital Heart Disease from Fetus to Adult. Her clinical and research work encompasses a diverse skill-set, including cardiology, intensive care, transoesophageal imaging in cardiac surgery & interventions, morphology, physics and biomedical engineering. This is reflective of the brilliant doctors, surgeons and scientists she has collaborated with and the rigorous training in world renowned centers. She has worked as a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist in cardiac imaging across a multidisciplinary team at Royal Brompton Hospital,
St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College London and has EACVI Accreditation in Echocardiography and Cardiovascular MRI. An important part of her research has focused on the clinical validation of novel approaches to enable 3D, contrast-agent free, high-resolution, whole-heart, multi-contrast techniques in cardiac MRI. She is dedicated to the development and application of advanced imaging techniques to optimise patient care for the benefit of babies, children and adults with heart disease and their families. Training of undergraduates, graduate and post-graduate students, researchers, technicians and doctors has been an essential part of her academic and clinical work, as well as the collaboration with scientists from diverse fields.
